It can be considered as a number of resonance chambers assembled together, through which sound waves enter, mixed with air, passing through all the particular holes made on the external surface. Once the sound waves get inside the chambers, they are dissipated by the friction of the resistance, found along the way in the tunnels of the air. Even if there is no free space behind the panels and there is no rockwool isolation, the mechanism mentioned remains efficient in the absorption of medium sound waves, such as those of the spoken words. Consequently TopAkustik-eco has wonderful characteristics in absorbing all normal sound waves, regardless of which method of installation is used.

In reference to medium frequencies, TOPAKUSTIK-eco presents the best possible performance of sound absorption, considering the external flat surface. That's because every little hole or slit can work as a center of refraction of sound energy and, in this way, bring inside a fraction of sound much bigger than the ratio between the surface of the hole and the total surface of the visible area. Assembling the panels at a certain distance from the wall and putting the insulating material between the two, TopAkustik-eco will also be able to capture high frequencies. This happens because the longer and the shorter sound waves, once inside the panel, loose their energy in the hole, or even better, by penetrating in the rock wool isolation.
Acoustic panels can be assembled to the ceiling or at a certain distance from the wall (in a way that leaves them able to vibrate at low frequencies). This type of installation gives the greatest quality of absorbing even low frequencies.

In the use of TopAkustik-eco for reducing background noise, the panel can be placed on all the side surfaces of the room, so that the more area covered the better the sound isolation.

According to the acoustic statistics, that measure the level of noise, the quantity of surfaces covered is more important than the position of this panel system. Thanks to our experience, however, we can say that it is better to place the panels as close to the sources of the noise as possible, in order to better control it.

Indoor areas can face echoes and semi echoes phenomena. An echo is a reflected sound that comes back to us with 1/10 second’s delay compared to a direct sound. A semi echo is, instead, a reflected sound that comes back to us with 1/20 second’s delay compared to a direct sound. When considering echoes, we can say that their reflected sound has a longer way to go: at least 34 mt more than a direct sound, while reflected semi echoes go 17 mt more than direct sound. Our brains hear echoes as a sound, while semi echoes are only heard as noises.

To keep echoes and semi echoes at the same frequencies of the spoken words, absorbent materials are not enough to deal with the problem. We have to make some changes on the walls with some irregular shapes of 30 - 60 cm. Also, the amount of panels must be calculated in reference to the presence of other materials, such as carpets, curtains, chairs, sofas, etc.

Thanks to its flexibility, TopAkustik-eco can be shaped in different ways. It can form an arc of a circle, or any other irregular shape, always in conformity with the architectural projects. In this way the properties of TopAkustik-eco combine themselves with the properties of echoing control, given by the irregular shapes. This feature applies well to large rooms (of at least 8.5 meters and even more).

TopAkustik-eco can be used in places where sounds change their level, in order to get a perfect reverberation time (that depends on the noise of the room and the final use of the room).

Last but not least, we should not forget that the sound that reverberates from TopAkustik-eco has the characteristic timbre of wooden surfaces, which is always pleasant to hear.
